The 2016-17 season has not been a pleasant one for Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski, to say the least.
Coach K, of course, was forced to suspend golden child, Grayson Allen, indefinitely (one game) back in December after another tripping case, and had to take a leave of absence earlier this month to undergo back surgery. The team has gone 2-3 without him, and according to a report from ESPN, the sub-.500 play has coach all sorts of pissed.
Per Jeff Goodman and Dana O’Neil, Coach K had all the players report to his house to let them know they’re all banned from the locker room and have also lost rights to wearing Duke apparel. Seriously:
Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski, on the mend after back surgery, held a meeting at his house Tuesday night in which he informed players that they were temporarily kicked out of the locker room and also forbidden from wearing Blue Devils apparel, sources told ESPN.
The report notes Coach K has done this before, and that this punishment would last “until they start living up to the standards of the Duke program.”
Now seems like a very good time to enjoy this dark period in Duke basketball with some highlights of Dennis Smith Jr. dunking all over them:
