If you’re a vintage NBA collector with a hard on for mid-1970’s basketball, then we have a potentially cool purchase for you.
Currently up for auction on eBay is the 1975 Volkswagen Beetle that was supposedly used by Sprite to promote soda at NBA games. Skeptical? You shouldn’t be. The thing literally looks like a basketball, and has a goddamn regulation-sized hoop to boot!
More information from the seller:
This special car was a promotional car used by Sprite to promote their soft drinks at NBA games during the 1970’s. It has a basketball goal that will extend to regulation height. There is a cooler in the front where Sprite soft drinks were kept and given out at NBA games. This is a VERY special car! The car was hauled to the games thus the LOW mileage! The car has mainly been stored since. It is in it’s original unrestored condition. The hydraulics simulate the car bouncing! It runs and drives great and the hydraulics work fine.
When the seller says low mileage, he means it — only 809 miles!
If there was ever a car that could make basketball tailgating a thing, this is it. Throw your beers into the Sprite cooler and drunkenly posterize your friends. Sounds like a good time.
