It’s very rare to see a punch connect during an NBA game. Usually it’s just a bunch of 6’5” dudes yelling “HOLD ME BACK!” in a giant mob of inactivity.
But Tuesday night provided a rare instance where a strike did land—from J.R. Smith’s left fist to the nether regions of Glen Rice Jr.:
For his effort, the NBA slapped the Knicks guard with a one-game suspension on Wednesday afternoon, adding a new type of offense to a resume that already features: multiple marijuana-related infractions, hostile tweeting towards Brandon Jennings, elbowing Jason Terry in the head, and untying the shoelaces of others.
Smith will probably use his night off to have a bowl and maybe study the triangle offense some more.
