



According to the New York Times’ Marc Stein, Atlanta Hawk great Carmelo Anthony is expected to sign with the Houston Rockets once he clears waivers. The Rockets, of course, are in need of wings after losing both Trevor Ariza and Luc Mbah a Moute during this offseason period, and Melo is a banana boat buddy of Chris Paul’s so it’s an obvious fit.
But does a washed up Melo who shot 40 percent (37 percent during the playoffs!) last season really move the needle for the Rockets? The answer is yes! According to CBS SportsLine, the addition of Melo drops their champioship odds from 4.8 percent to 3.9 percent:
SportsLine adds the Rockets are expected to win around 53 games — a 12-win drop off — with a good a chance of winning their division:
While everything seems to be trending downward for this Rockets team, one thing for certain: there will somehow be more ISO ball with a trio of Melo, James Harden, and CP3.
