Ever heard of a woman driving a college basketball team bus getting hammered, leaving the team at an arena and going for a joy ride in the bus only to get pulled over, fail a sobriety test and then test positive for alcohol and be five times over the legal limit?
Now you have and it shouldn’t really be a shocker that it happened at St. Bonaventure. Saint Louis was in town for a game and the bus driver, Linda Edmister, decided it was a great night to get blitzed.
Using GPS on an item on the bus, troopers tracked down the bus – it turned out to be 35 miles away heading down Main Street in the Town of Randolph, police said. According to a tweet from the St. Louis team, it was the GPS on a player’s iPhone that led the authorities to the bus.
The driver, Linda L. Edmister, 56 of Gasport, was behind the wheel when troopers pulled her over on Main Street. Edmister had driven the team to St. Bonaventure and was supposed to take them back.
Troopers administered standard field sobriety tests, which they said she failed. They also found alcohol on the bus.
She was arrested and taken back to the State Police barracks in Olean where a breath test showed her blood alcohol content was .22 percent – over five times the legal limit for drinking and driving while operating a commercial vehicle.
Saint Louis took a 15-point L and then had to sit around until Linda could be arrested.
Just chilling in the Reilly Center while we try to find our missing bus. #SCNotTop10 pic.twitter.com/Au9LwpofO1
