Byron Scott took plenty of his heat for his coaching of the Lakers’ rookies this season, but now that he’s unemployed, he can finally dish on his oft-criticized handling of D’Angelo Russell.
Scott appeared on “The Dan Patrick Show” Monday and was asked, “Did you have to give him tough love?” The response was classic Scott:
Absolutely. Every now and then some of these guys when they come into the league they think they’re entitled. And you know that’s how I thought he felt when he first got with us. He almost tried to act like he was the veteran and I tried to make sure he knew that he wasn’t a veteran.

Of course, the tough love act probably wasn’t totally out of bounds considering the Nick Young-Iggy Azalea secret tape scandal.
